My guilty pleasures: spending an absurd amount of time on my skincare in the evening, drinking my coffee with whole milk even though it’ll hurt my stomach, and Instagram targeted ads.

So when two of those three things collide, I’m hooked. And I found them in Heyday.

If you’re a glow-obsessed facial junkie in LA (or any other area containing one of the 30+ Heyday locations), no doubt you’ve seen the ads, too. Their siren song beckons, and I had no choice but to succumb.

I bit the bullet and tapped on the Instagram link that said “Book now!” – down the rabbit hole. And, unlike Wonderland, I found myself in a haven of beauty and education. I could’ve spent days browsing their site and ogling new facial serums, but I hunkered down and got to booking my appointment.

To summarize Heyday’s approach to skincare in one fancy word, it would be bespoke. Their philosophy revolves around providing accessible, personalized skincare treatments that cater to individual needs and personal goals. Expert estheticians offer comprehensive skin consultations, analyzing your unique concerns and tailoring each facial accordingly. If you’re looking for optimized efficacy, your search ends here!

Each of their facials takes 50 minutes, with the same basic ingredients: Skin analysis, deep cleansing, exfoliation, facial massage, extractions, masking, and finishing steps like toner and sunscreen. But they also offer some add-ons to make your spa day extra special.

Be careful though – these can add up! They come in at a whopping $80 each for non-members, and that on top of the price of the facial made me do a double take. I decided, though, that this was an investment into my skin.

And for the sensitive-skinned out there, do not fret! These facials are suitable for all skin types, so everyone can benefit from their transformative treatments. With just a couple clicks, I had my facial booked with a little Gua Sha enhancement because, why not?

The Transformation Begins

With their super simple booking process and exclusive deals for first-time visitors, I knew they had my number – they’re dedicated to giving you self-care serenity, before you even step into a location. But when you do finally enter the premises, you’re in for a treat. The gorgeous soft pastels and ambient lighting immediately put you at ease. And if you’re a fellow skincare junkie, there are plenty of products to peruse, from holy grails to brand new must-trys. 

I will say I was a bit worried about the limited modalities available. I made sure to let everyone – the front desk, my esty, the nice woman sitting next to me – know that I have psoriasis, and that I would need the right care for it. After plenty of reassurance, I knew I was in good hands.

Once the facial itself started… I can’t say I actually recall much from it. I was so transported to a place of relaxation and pampering that I kinda forgot about doing my job, and let myself indulge instead. And if that isn’t a testament to a good facial, I don’t know what is.

One thing I do remember, though, is the advice my esty gave me. As she worked with my face and got to know my skin, she gave me expert product recs and tips for how to elevate my routine. This way, I could achieve “I just got an expensive facial” radiance right at home!

Let me tell you, after stepping into the bright summer sunlight and viewing the results, I was rushing to book my next appointment. The blindingly glowy selfies I sent to my boyfriend had him asking to tag along, too.

Not only did my skin look rejuvenated and juicy, but I felt recharged and confident. My picky skin was satisfied and soothed. And, since skincare is a marathon, I know that with each subsequent facial I’m only going to look and feel better.
