This holiday season, we’re featuring 12 of the best 2019 gift ideas we’ve come across or products we already own, with an emphasis on items that are sustainable and/or help you sleep. Sustainability makes us sleep better – and not just because our sheets are sustainably made. It helps us rest easy to know that our money and our lifestyle is kind to the earth and kind to the producers we’re supporting. Let us know if you think we missed any standout gift ideas, or tell us what you’ve been raving about lately.
A5 MEMOBOTTLE, $36
These slim, reusable BPA and BPS-free water bottles are ideal for traveling or carrying to work with you – they fit into your bag or backpack neatly next to laptops, iPads, folders and files. The A5 edition is 750ml, but if you prefer your bottles smaller or taller they’ve got you covered. They also have leather or vegan sleeves for maximum stylishness.
THE SILVER PILLOW, $99+
Made with silver thread technology, the Silver Pillow – our newest addition – is finally here. If you haven’t heard of silver thread technology, it’s a lot like how it sounds: Silver is woven into the threads that make up this pillow, and silver ions in the fabric kill emerging bacteria. So if anyone in your life needs a little extra help keeping their skin bacteria-free, is a germaphobe, or just wants excellent ergonomic support, consider this silvery nighttime addition.
COMPLETE LINEN BEDDING SET, (price varies)
You probably knew this was coming. We also recommend our bedding sets as a great gift choice for you or anyone in your life. Our snap system means our sheets stay secure, never getting tangled or bunched up during the night, and mean making the bed in the morning is easy as fluffing the duvet. Plus, sleeping with a top sheet – the most hygienic way to sleep – has never been cleaner, as it keeps the duvet untouched because it snaps (and stays) attached to the duvet. We’ve got new seasonal colors, our new comforter and holiday deals available, so be sure to check back (or subscribe to our email list on the bottom of the page) so you’re in the loop.
GANTRI MASKOR TABLE LIGHT, $148
Designed by the Muka Design Lab in Northern Spain – which focuses on sustainable, locally-sourced art meant to help people stay centered in a modern world – this lamp is a perfect bedside or bedroom desk table addition. Its dimmer switch means that the light can be altered based on time of day or preference, and the warm glow is easy to go to sleep with and / or wake up to in the morning. This lamp’s body and diffuser are made from corn PLA which, if you don’t know, is a blend of corn polylactic acid that is durable and better for the planet.
FOOD WRAPS, $6+
This washable, reusable and compostable food wrap is a stylish and eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. It’s made from organic cotton, beeswax, organic jojoba oil and tree resin, and to use, you simply mold it into the shape you need, sealing it with the warmth of your hands, and will hold its shape once it cools. You can buy by size or print (a favorite is this Oceans print or this Bees + Bears print). Or you can have the best of all worlds and get the variety pack, which includes multiple different wrap sizes (small, medium, large and bread), as well as different prints. Be sure to check out their holiday gift bundles, including this honeycomb-print Starter Kit.
JASMINE PLANT, (price varies)
A fragrant cape jasmine (Gardenia jasminoides) is a wonderful visual and aromatic addition to anyone’s house or bedroom. Not only do plants make you feel better, but the two fragrances found in a cape jasmine plant can be very effective in improving quality of sleep. For a visual and sleep-friendly gift, this is an out-of-the-box option (figuratively and literally – it might be a little hard to wrap).
THE COMFORTER, $299
Our newly-released comforter is a perfect wintertime addition to your bedroom den, and comes with all the standard Primary Goods inclusions: it’s GOTS and OEKO-TEX certified, hypoallergenic, naturally dyed, and sustainably made (of course). Made from eucalyptus and wool, it keeps you warm while staying breathable and cool. The four corner ties mean it will stay firmly in place inside your duvet cover, but if you prefer to use it uncovered, the natural dye and hypoallergenic properties mean it’s gentle on your skin.
COFFEE MAKER + ALARM CLOCK, $445
This Barisieur Coffee & Tea Alarm Clock is for the most decadent, time-crunched or caffeine-addicted person in your life. If you know someone who can’t face the world (or even a roommate) without a requisite one+ cup of joe, bring the coffee(maker) to them. This bedside barista brews coffee grounds or loose leaf tea, depending on your preference, and is sustainably made out of FSC-certified wood (and ethically assembled). Not quite a personal assistant bringing you coffee in the morning, but honestly pretty close.
PAJAMA SET, $144
Fellow LA-based, eco-conscious company LA Relaxed uses eco-friendly materials as well as renewable energy in its supply chain. These traditional Navy Stripe pajama pants and top are a great traditional gift option that could benefit anyone who cares about the planet or sleep style. (Might we recommend this for any mothers that are particularly hard to shop for?).
Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You by Lin-Manuel Miranda
This feel-good book is our pick for something to read to kick you or your recipient into gear before 2020 (or something to read once 2020 dawns for an extra pick-me-up, if needed). This book, written by the author of the wildly popular musical Hamilton, is full of his legendarily inspirational nuggets many have experienced (and are the better for) via Twitter. It’s also illustrated by Jonny Sun, for an extra dose of goodness. Pick this up to start mornings and/or wind down evenings with words that feel like kind encouragements from a good friend – your very own pocket “pep talks.”
PILLOW SPRAY, $28
ThisWorks Deep Sleep Pillow Spray is a potential stocking stuffer for the sleepless on your Christmas list. Just spritz this blend of lavender, vetivert and chamomile on the pillow before going to bed for some aromatherapy sleep assistance. Lavender has been proven to help relax and ease people to sleep, so if you or someone on your list needs a little help nodding off, this may be the perfect aromatic fix.
ACUPRESSURE MAT, $56
As you know, we’re fans of organic linen, so this linen acupressure mat stuck out to us (no pun intended). Certified organic linen and medical-grade HIPS plastic are what the exterior portion of the mat is made from, and an antibacterial sleeve protects the natural coconut fiber mat inside. Acupressure has been shown to reduce neck and back pain and help with insomnia. If you’ve been interested in reaping the benefits of acupuncture but are turned off by needles, this may be a great compromise. Plus, if you suffer from tech neck, it may be an at-home self-care option that is cheaper than getting regular massages.
