Frequently Asked

How does the 100 night trial work?

With Primary, you have 100 nights to decide whether or not to return it. If you decide our bedding isn’t for you, send us an email to begin the return process.

You will receive a full refund once we inspect the package; we can not accept soiled or ruined product. Your return will be donated to charity – they don’t want ruined bedding either! :-)

What makes Primary unique?

We pride ourselves on three main factors that set us apart from the rest.

  1. Various significant design details can be found in our bedding to give you the ultimate benefit – to never make your bed again. We have extensively studied how average people actually use their bedding and compared it to traditional bedding design. We noticed many differences and embraced them. We designed Primary for today. You can learn more about our unique design details here.
  2. Primary is made from premium French linen. Most bedding is made from cotton; however, linen is superior in every way. You can learn more about our linen here.
  3. Our revolutionary price sets us apart from the rest. Linen is a luxury good, which typically translates into higher prices. Our bedding, if sold in retail, would cost $600 - $1,000. However, by selling directly to you and cutting out all middlemen, we can price extremely competitively. Learn more about our price here.

How is linen different than cotton bedding?

While the majority of bedding is made from cotton, linen is actually superior to cotton in every way. Linen is a luxury product. It’s stronger, has a high moisture absorbency rate, it’s hypoallergenic, highly breathable, and lasts 10x longer than cotton. Why should I use a top sheet?

For you crazy non-top sheet users — Allow us to explain why using a top sheet with a duvet cover is better.

Using a top sheet is better for cleanliness & regulating heat. With a top sheet you have 2 temperature options through the night. Plus you wash the top sheet instead of unwieldy duvet.

Before our design, people would wake up with their top sheet as a tangled mess at their feet under their duvet cover. Also every other sheet company cuts their top sheet to be wider than the duvet, forcing you to tuck it in when making your bed. Those 2 things annoyed us too, so we fixed both.

How does the connection system work?

Along the left and right edges of the Primary duvet cover and top sheet, you’ll find simple snaps. The two pieces snap together at perfectly gapped points. This simple innovation allows the top sheet and duvet cover to flow freely, while still staying aligned during sleep. You should sleep under the top sheet as normal. Sleeping in Primary feels just like normal bedding. Don’t worry, this isn’t a sleeping bag system. When you wake up in the morning, you shouldn’t ever find the top sheet in a ball at your feet. Making your bed is now as simple as smoothing your duvet and walking away.

How does linen feel?

Linen uses thicker fiber than cotton, giving it its unique look. Primary linen is stonewashed with special white volcanic stones before it reaches you. It’s pre-softened for your comfort. The best part of Primary is it will only become softer and softer from use. The point at which cotton would normally begin to fall apart, Primary linen is at its softest, and just as strong.

Never make my bed again? How?!

If you breakdown the factors that go into making a bed and then solve the issues that create these factors in the first place, you’re left with a solution that translates ‘making your bed’ as simply ruffling your duvet, and then walking away. For more on how we’ve solved all of traditional bedding’s flaws, start here.

What is the threadcount?

Linen is a much thicker fibre than most fabrics and proves to be more robust, durable, and softer than cotton. While linen has a lower thread count than cotton, its properties are far more superior.

Do you offer Primary in my bed size?

Currently Primary is offered in full, queen, and king sizes. If we don’t carry your size, please reach out to us and let us know what you’re looking for. In the future, we may expand to other in-demand sizes.

How should I care for my Primary?

We recommend washing on a warm, light cycle. Do not bleach or use bleach agents. If you tumble dry, use a light, warm setting. Separate whites from colors. It is recommended to wash your white sheets separate from the colored duvet so the colors don’t bleed together.

The more time you spend in Primary, the softer it will become. Primary is made from 100% French linen. As with all bedding and clothing, new linen should be washed before using for the first time. Regular use and laundering will only make the bedding softer, suppler and long lasting.
