If you’ve ever had a late night craving for an icy milkshake or found yourself wishing you could quickly whip up soft serve on a hot afternoon without planning ahead, you have a great idea of why GreenPan’s frozen dessert maker is so popular.
Launched in 2025, the Frost went viral for its cute countertop appeal, retro pull-to-serve handle, and ability to whip up soft serve, sorbet, slushies, smoothies and more in as little as 15 minutes.
Now GreenPan has launched a new version, the Frost Pro. There’s plenty that’s new here, but the heart of the original Frost remains. It's more like someone went through and quietly fixed all the little things you didn’t realize could be made better. Let’s get into it.

At its core, the Frost Pro still does the same thing. It makes frozen drinks and desserts quickly, easily, and without any hassle. But the experience of using it has been smoothed in a way that feels noticeable from the very first use.
One of the most exciting additions is a dedicated gelato mode. This is a ‘finally’ moment for us, as having a richer, thicker texture ice cream option feels like a no-brainer. Gelato has become super-popular in recent years, and it’s a great chance for dessert lovers to experiment with elevated flavors like after-dinner pistachio gelato or a simple vanilla base served with olive oil and sea salt that work better with this Italian style of ice cream.

The biggest difference for the Frost Pro is how effortless it feels to use. Small details work better and more conveniently, such as the handle closing on its own than manually, which sounds minor until you’re mid swirl trying to serve soft serve into a cone with one hand.
Setup is easier too. If you’ve ever fumbled with parts or double checked whether something was locked in correctly, that’s been simplified here. Fewer pieces, fewer moving parts, and a more straightforward extrusion head means fewer barriers between you and your bowl of soft serve.
It’s also noticeably quieter, which makes a difference in terms of usability. If you're making a quick frozen coffee drink in the morning or blending up a protein shake after a workout, it’s less intrusive to have running. The upgraded display and stainless steel details give it a more polished feel on the countertop, too.

Some of the most useful upgrades show up in the small details. The new single layer bowl makes it easier to actually see what’s happening inside - which we love, because watching your froyo slowly get thick and creamy is incredibly satisfying.
The wider opening, for pouring liquids into the Frost Pro to freeze, helps more than you’d expect as you’re not trying to aim perfectly into a narrow space. Fewer spills and less mess is a plus.
The slightly larger capacity also makes a difference, allowing you to churn up larger batches to feed a crowd.
Then there’s cleanup, which is always the part that decides how often you’ll actually use something. Rather than it being a pain point for the Frost Pro, you can put the whole bowl and handle system straight into the dishwasher. The original version is also dishwasher friendly, but requires slightly more disassembly first.
What’s nice about the Frost Pro is that it doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel, but it does mean that making a coke slushie, a healthy smoothie, or a fruit sorbet is easier to enjoy. The flow of using the machine has been simplified in thoughtful ways, and it really shows.
Whether it's a glass of frosé on a summer evening, a fruity soft serve for the kids, or experimenting with gelato flavors on a weekend, the Frost Pro truly brings joy to your kitchen.
