I Hate the Gym But Want to Stay in Shape – Here’s What I Do Instead

The gym has just… never worked for me.

Group classes? I’ve always felt out of place. Machines? Confusing, intimidating. Sweating in front of other people? Not where I feel my most confident. I also struggle with the motivation to exercise in the first place.

But I just found something that’s actually convincing me to work out: the MOVE app from Love Sweat Fitness. I love that I can choose from a range of fun, challenging workouts, and it’s all from the comfort of my own home, with a certified personal trainer guiding me along the way.

What’s Special About MOVE?

The MOVE App was designed as an easy way to fit workouts into your busy schedule – without having to go to the gym or buy a bunch of fancy equipment. Certified Personal Trainer Katie Dunlop created the app after undergoing her own major personal transformation; the exercises featured are the same ones she used to lose 45 pounds and keep them off! 

Katie is also a Sports Nutritionist and Certified Pre/Post-Natal Trainer! Her story and qualifications really shine through in this app, which has 150+ full-body workouts intended to get you results FAST. 

Here are some of the things I love about MOVE:

  • There are SO MANY different types of workouts, including HIIT, Barre, pilates, yoga, low-impact, warm-ups, and more
  • Tons of options for recovery stretches and flows
  • The ability to listen to your own music, or a playlist that Katie has curated
  • A place to add and organize your favorite videos
  • A calendar to track your goals, workouts, and progress pics
  • Exclusive access to challenges (with HUGE prizes!)
  • Your Daily 10 – a 10-minute workout intended as a warm-up or bonus workout, but I love it on days when I’m too busy to think or throughout a day of working from home

…And It’s Affordable??

The MOVE app is, without a doubt, the cheapest workout app I’ve found – especially for the quality you’re getting. And it’s certainly cheaper than the gym. MOVE has a great 7-day free trial you can use to test the waters; then, once you’re hooked, there are three tiers: If you sign up for one month, it’s $13.99/month, 3 months is $12.65/month, and a year for $8.25/month.

Researching all this, I have to say I was more than excited to try it! Me? Excited to exercise? I know. I was surprised, too.

My Own Fitness Transformation

This app was a breakthrough for me. It turns out, when there’s no pressure from external eyes or coaches, and I can completely customize my workout, I actually… like working out!

I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, but the difference is MAJOR. I’m super motivated, especially when I see my Sweat Streak tick up. The videos themselves are straightforward (perfect for beginners like me), and you can go at your own pace. Incorporating regular at-home workouts into my life has made me feel stronger, sleep better, and even think clearer.

Not only that, I’m obsessed with their Self-Care Days. Instead of rest days, the app encourages you to take care of your mind, body, and goals, and log those days as well. It’s a great reminder to be gentle with yourself throughout the process – and they count for your Sweat Streak.

I can’t wait to see how I feel a couple weeks or even months from now. I’m saving money, feeling confident, and achieving my fitness goals with MOVE!
