I’m ashamed to say it: I’m a fast food girlie. Anything deep-fried calls to me like a siren. But after one too many breakfast crunchwraps from Taco Bell, I found myself thinking, I need to grow up and cut out all the junk!
And if I’m going healthy, I’m taking my beloved chihuahua Maggie along with me. For years, her diet was the doggy equivalent of fast food: cheap traditional kibble. But I just found the perfect food for her so we can both live our best lives. Ollie fresh food is packed with the same ingredients I’m switching to: real meats, fruits, and veggies. You can try your first box for 50% off (at least, that’s what I did)!
In order for this "doggie cleanse" to be successful, I knew Maggie needed food that didn't have any weird filler ingredients, like gums or binders. Looking at the lineup of whole foods in Ollie’s ingredients list, I felt completely at ease. In fact, I felt inspired by the Beef recipe and made myself a nice little medium rare filet with a side of sweet potatoes as I clicked through the Ollie site!
No Fillers
A lot of conventional kibbles and even other fresh foods have additives like sugars, corn, wheat, and soy. These ingredients don’t add value to your dog’s health, just bulk and extra calories, so when I saw Ollie didn’t have them, I knew that was a good sign.
No Preservatives
It’s hard to find a dry food that doesn’t have chemical preservatives added to extend the shelf life. Rather than add chemicals, Ollie’s Fresh Food is preserved through freezing. You defrost a package when you’re ready to use it. A pretty fair tradeoff to get a cleaner meal for my pup!
If you’re looking for a dog food with clean ingredients that dogs love, I would highly recommend Ollie!
While I stocked my fridge with green juices and kale salads for my cleanse, I filled my freezer with Ollie for Maggie’s cleanse. I placed a pack of the Lamb with Cranberries and butternut squash in the refrigerator to defrost for her dinner later, and by the time I scooped out her nightly portion, she was practically dancing with excitement!
Now, she’s normally kind of a picky eater – I had to put toppers on her kibble, and even then she wouldn’t always eat right away. But with Ollie? She dove right in and gobbled it up! I knew we had found something delicious. (My green juices on the other hand? Not so tasty. I was starting to get jealous of Maggie’s journey!)
I decided I wanted to track her progress on Ollie, and luckily, Ollie has a few handy health screening services on their app (free to download, you get an account when you place your first order). There are screenings for dental health, weight, skin & coat, and even a digestion, where you send a picture of your dog’s poop! I dutifully snapped a pic of Maggie’s, well, doody, before I fed her the first bowl of Ollie. When I sent in another picture two weeks later, it turned out her digestive health had actually improved!
Another major improvement? Her energy level! Maggie’s usually a bit of a couch potato, but since starting Ollie, she’s been prancing around like she’s a puppy again. Partially because she’s so excited about mealtime, I’m sure, but I think a lot of it has to do with feeding her all of those good-for-you ingredients without additives and fillers getting in the way.
If you want to start your pup on a life-changing health journey, try your first box of Ollie for 50% off!
While I will probably be going back to my diet of onion rings and microwavable chicken pot pies, I’m keeping Maggie on her “cleanse” for good! Her poops are better, she’s at a healthy weight, and most importantly, she absolutely loves it. Treat your dog to the beauty of clean living and try your first box of Ollie for 50% off today!
