My New Self-Care Routine
When I first got a full year of the MOVE app for just $78.99 (use code: EARLY), I took my time exploring it so I could truly understand what I was getting. And it became clear that I was getting a LOT! I’m definitely a fitness newbie, so imagine my relief when I saw that Katie, the Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Nutritionist who created the app, had laid out a 7-day plan for me. Taking the guesswork out of working out!
The week of workouts consisted of:
- 2 “cardio sweat sesh” days
- “Arms + abs”
- “Full-body workout”
- “Abs + cardio”
- “Legs + booty”
- A dedicated self-care day – which I love
Working out 6 days in a week seemed daunting, but with each exercise regimen clocking in at 30 minutes per, I felt like I could handle it.
Each day (with the exception of cardio, I’ll get to that) gives you the option to watch a full instructional video and do the moves along with it, or to watch a simple demonstration clip of each move and do a certain amount of reps. I usually opt for the demonstration just so I don’t have to pick out a video, but when I’m short on time, I’ll explore the massive video library and select for routines from 10-15 minutes.
The Cardio Sweat Sesh days do give you the option to pick a full video from a few options (including yoga and pilates), as well as the option to set a timer for your cardio or to log an outside workout. This is perfect for days when I’m able to grab a quick jog before taking the kids to the bus stop and can’t do a full MOVE workout.
So Much More Than an App!
So how did I get so HOOKED on this app that six months later, I’ve signed up for a yearly subscription (a mere $78.99/year, the monthly price of a gym membership in most major cities) and lost 25 pounds?
Partly, it’s the actual effectiveness of each workout, designed to sculpt and burn fat while staying manageable. But it’s also the way the MOVE app encourages you and cheers on your every win – it’s such a supportive space and has helped inspire positive self-talk in my own head. After spending the past several years bashing myself for not being able to exercise, it feels nice to have a sweet message from Katie telling me I’m doing amazing for hitting my workout that day.
If one of your goals is to lose weight or lose inches, there’s also a really handy tracker where you can upload photos of yourself. Sometimes you might not lose that much weight, but get super toned, and it’s nice to have a visual representation of the hard work even if it doesn’t necessarily show on the scale.
Another thing that’s kept me dialed in to the MOVE app? The wide variety of workouts. There’s HIIT, LISS (low intensity steady state), MISS (moderate intensity steady state), yoga, targeted exercises for every muscle group, and a hefty range of warm ups. I can choose any type of workout that fits my mood and energy level.
We’ve Got This
Let’s be real. My life is so chaotic, I can’t always guarantee that I’m going to even be wearing matching shoes when I leave the house. But if I can slot in one brief interval of self-care, it’s going to be with Katie on my MOVE app.
Sometimes, as a mom, it can feel like I’m losing my identity a little. Knowing that I’m sticking to my workouts helps me feel like a whole person. If you’re a busy mom, or a busy ANYBODY, do yourself a favor and get a year of MOVE for just $78.99 today! Use code: EARLY when you create your account.
