From Morning Til Night
7:50 AM: My alarm goes off. Maggie crawls from her spot at my feet to tuck herself in next to me for a couple extra minutes of cuddle time before the day starts.
8:30 AM: Maggie and I do a biiiiig stretch, then get out of bed. I go to put on her harness – it’s time to walk! – but she runs over to her empty food bowl and begins to whine. This part of the routine is new – it started when she first tried Ollie! She loves having her breakfast of Pork & Apples before we venture outside. She gobbles it up gleefully and lets out a belch. Lovely!
8:40 AM: Okay, *now* it’s time to walk! We stroll around the neighborhood, greeted as always by her BFF, a massive gray pitbull named Saint! They prance about happily for a few minutes and then we finish our walk to the café. I get a latté, she gets back scratches from the barista.
9:15 AM: Sunbathing time! Maggie’s fur smells so toasty afterwards :) I play Serge Gainsbourg to enhance the loungey vibes – in my head, she’s a huge music snob.
9:30 AM: This is her chance to sleep. I get it, it’s been a full morning. I cover her with a cozy blanket and watch her tongue slowly blep out of her mouth. I imagine she’s dreaming of her past life as a Pulitzer-winning poet or 17th-century witch.
1:32 PM: Maggie is awakened by the sound of my cat. (They are not friends; Maggie barely tolerates him.) I seize the moment and take her downstairs for a walk. But Maggie has other plans. She simply plops down on the grass and starts dragging her body back and forth. She does this for 15 minutes, despite my practically begging her, “Do you want to go on a walk???”
1:50 PM: Back inside, she immediately resumes napping. Luxuriating is exhausting!
5:00 PM: We take our customary evening walk past the combination hot dog + taco stand, which Maggie loves; the smells are intoxicating, and the people eating on the sidewalk always tell her she’s a cutie and a good girl. Like me, she craves external validation!
5:45 PM: Time to play! Our fave games are “pick a hand,” “dig,” and “go on up,” which is when I tell her “go on up” and she either jumps on the couch or stands and places her paws on your knee. She gets rewarded no matter what – with these Beef & Sweet Potato Treats from Ollie.
6:00 PM: For Maggie’s evening meal, I pull out all the stops. I plate her Ollie like a chef would in a Michelin-starred restaurant, with dollops placed artfully on the dish in a Pollock-like fashion for added enrichment. I fully believe she notices and appreciates it.
8:00 PM - 10:30PM: We watch TV (she loves Great British Bake-Off) and I give her arthritic joints a little massage. I tell her she’s the most beautiful, sweet, intelligent dog who’s ever lived and I love her so much. Then, it’s time for a quick pee and we’re off to bed – ready to wake up the next day and do it all over again!
Ollie For Life
Maggie’s happiest moments during the day are, well, all of them, but she’s especially jazzed at mealtime. I feel so relieved I found a food that she ADORES – and the knowledge that she’s getting all her dietary needs met gives me extra peace of mind.
I love that Ollie’s recipes are made with human-grade superfoods you can recognize – like spinach, sweet potatoes, and blueberries. Plus, their app (yes, they have an app!) offers three separate health screenings, so I can get expert analyses of Maggie’s digestion, dental health, and weight. I’ve used these insights to tweak her routine for optimal well-being.
