Trying Ollie
On my hunt for a dog food that would suit my pup’s delicate plumbing, I stumbled upon Ollie. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had 5 different fresh food options: beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, and pork. Miss Maggie tends to have a less-than-positive reaction to chicken, so I perused the other options to see what might be best for her.
I opted to try the pork recipe, which touts itself as being ideal for pups who are prone to food sensitivities. That sounded like my dog, so I went through the Ollie quiz – which asked a lot of helpful, specific questions about her age, size, lifestyle, and sensitivities – and then selected my recipe, and clicked to order.
Okay, ACTUALLY Trying Ollie
After a few days, my Ollie arrived at my doorstep! Maggie was SO excited (but she always gets excited when anything comes to the door). I chucked the first package of pork recipe in the fridge so it could defrost, and the next day, I fed my pup her first serving of Ollie.
First of all? She absolutely LOVED it. In addition to having a sour stomach at times, she tends to be a picky eater, so the fact that she gobbled it down and asked for more was huge. I didn’t notice an immediate change in her poops, but that was to be expected. I had a two week supply, so I figured I’d give it the full two weeks to see whether or not we’d stay on Ollie.
Maggie usually gets nauseous and eats grass about once a week. So if she didn’t do that within the first week of eating Ollie, I was going to consider that a win. Imagine the thrill I felt when a week passed and she didn’t try to eat any grass!!! And then by the end of the second week, she still hadn’t tried to eat any grass, and she had a pep in her step that I hadn’t seen since she was a puppy (she’s twelve now).
Yep, Ollie not only agreed with Maggie’s digestion – it also gave her much more energy!
Digestion Scan
So, I’m no canine fecal expert, but I know a bad poop when I see one. And my Maggie had some bad poops. But Ollie completely took the guesswork out of figuring out whether her digestion actually improved or not with their nifty little digestion scan feature on their app. I took a picture of her number 2 pre-Ollie, sent it in, got it assessed, and then took another picture post-Ollie. The improvement was massive.
It’s so nice that Ollie offers this service; I feel like preventative care is way undervalued when it comes to how we take care of our pets. By making sure that my dog’s digestion is under control, I can help ensure that she lives a longer, happier, healthier life.
Will I Keep Feeding Ollie?
Um, yeah! I’m so, so relieved I finally found a nutritious, well-balanced food plan that works for Maggie – why would I ever switch? Heck, maybe Ollie will solve *my* tummy troubles… should I start eating Ollie?? (J/k… sort of.)
