No Pills? No Problem. I Tested Two Pill-Free ED Meds

October 27, 2024

Erectile dysfunction can be a hard pill to swallow. But what happens when you have ED and a hard time swallowing pills? The little blue pill… the little yellow pill… both can help with your ED, but neither is friendly to pill haters.

Enter a new generation of ED meds: chewables and dissolvables. These meds promise to solve the pesky problem of pill popping with some added benefits mixed in — like faster onset times and tasty breath.

I recently tried out a couple of these new med styles – Hello Cake and Blue Chew – to see if one worked better than the other for my ED. And I’m excited to say that there was a definitive winner!

The Review – Blue Chew

Overall rating: 5/10

Let me say right at the beginning that I’ve only tried one of the four different ED options that Blue Chew has to offer. Specifically, I tried their Tadalafil chews. Tadalafil is the active ingredient in Cialis; it’s a long-lasting ED med that is designed more for regular use than in-the-moment action. Blue Chew also has Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra), Vardenafil (Levitra), and Tadalafil + a daily multivitamin.

I went with just Tadalafil for a variety of reasons. I already get a multivitamin for way less at Costco, I’ve learned that Vardenafil makes me queasy, and just Sildenafil is too short-lived for me.

Blue Chew’s main claim to fame is their chewable format. I had high hopes, but honestly the berry flavor was gross. Some people may like it, but it really diminished the whole experience for me.

The Sign Up Process:

Signing up with Blue Chew had some pros and cons. On the positive side, they’re super up front about what medicines they have available, what strengths they come in, and how much everything costs. Hello Cake is similar, but not all ED meds do that.

On the negative side… there’s a few things. They have a small blurb on each med, but really no details beyond what to expect in terms of onset time and duration, so if you’re new to ED meds you may be feeling like you’re shooting in the dark. And they have zero info on which dosage is right for you. That’s all fine if you’re transitioning over from an existing prescription, but again really rough if you’re new to ED meds.

The Price:

Excluding the Tadalafil Multivitamin option, pricing with Blue Chew is pretty decent for what you’re getting. They’re a little more expensive than generic pills, but not by too much and the $20 first time offer evens that out.

What they are lacking is a recurring discount. Hello Cake let me take 30% off if I ordered 6 months at a time, Blue Chew only offers a $21 discount if you order their Multivitamins quarterly, but nothing beyond that.

The Experience:

If I were to sum up my Blue Chew experience in one word, it would be “underwhelming.” The berry flavor? Underwhelming (tbh more like gross). The meds themselves? Also underwhelming.

The medication bit could be on me. I picked 6mg of Tadalafil instead of 9mg, which in retrospect would have been a better dose. But without any actual guidance on site… whatcha gonna do.

Anyways, I went with the “Popular” options: a 14 pack of 6mg Tadalafil chews. Given that a Tadalafil dose lasts from 24 to 36 hours, that meant I had enough to have an erection for half to two-thirds of the month. Which is more boner than I need! If it had been on demand... But since Tadalafil takes over an hour to kick in, you kind of need to anticipate your erectile needs, something I’m not great at.

Overall, I walked away from my Blue Chew experience feeling… fine. I could get a decent erection off 6mg of Tadalafil alone, and when I timed my dosage out right, it was plenty for having sex. If I’d gone for a stronger, daily dose I likely would have been happier. But I also don’t think I want to be on ED meds 24/7.

The Review – Hello Cake ED Meds

Overall rating: 9/10

If you’re trying to get hard, these are the meds for you. Cake Meds solved issues I didn’t necessarily know I had until I tried Blue Chew.

Don’t want to wait an hour for your meds to kick in? Boom. You’re up in 15 minutes. Don’t want to take an ED med every single day? No prob! Use as needed, but stay good for 36 hours.

And most importantly… Want to have that kind of “rock hard all the way to the tip”, “I haven’t been hard like this in years” kinda erection? Oh yeah. That’s covered.

The secret behind Cake Meds is twofold: 1. They use a rapid-dissolve tablet that hits your bloodstream faster than chewables or pills. 2. They combine Tadalafil with Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) for a super fast-acting and long-lasting med.

The Sign Up Process:

Signing up with Cake is pretty painless. You fill out the same questionnaire that you fill out everywhere else — it’s to make sure you won’t have any nasty side effects, so take it seriously! And then you go right into selecting your dosage.

Cake just has the one med, but with two options: regular strength with 40mg of Sildenafil and 8mg of Tadalafil or extra strength with 80mg of Sildenafil and 17mg of Tadalafil. I went regular.

The Price:

There’s no denying that Cake Meds are more expensive per dose than Blue Chew. At $7/dose for their regular strength, you’re paying almost double. But you’re also kind of getting double. My regular strength Cake Med has more Tadalafil than my Blue Chew dose plus a whole dose of Sildenafil. And like I mentioned above, you can save up to 30% if you order in bulk. Something I highly recommend after you test them out for a month.

The Experience:

It turns out that when you combine two active ED-treating ingredients into a single dose, it really treats your ED. My first time trying Cake Meds, I wasn’t totally sure what to expect. I popped one under my tongue (not the best taste, but better than berry tbh) and within 15 minutes I was going. Like, going going.

My wife, who had been incredibly patient across more than a few “timing blunders” with Blue Chew, was thrilled. Just knowing that I could keep an ED med on me to use as needed was a huge relief. Spur of the moment sex was back on the table, courtesy of Sildenafil!

Next morning sex was also back on the table thanks to the Tadalafil (one time literally on the table). Turns out, I do really like Tadalafil, I just needed a little more than I was getting with Blue Chew. The 8mg in Cake Meds feels like a sweet spot — I get as hard as I’d hoped and it still lasts for 36 hours.

All in all, Cake Meds delivered everything I was looking for in an ED med. They kick in fast, last a long time, and let my sex life stay spontaneous. And, of course, they provide killer erections.

Why Settle?

So much of dealing with ED feels like settling. You settle for subpar erections. You settle for lackluster performance. You settle and your partner settles when it’s just not happening that night.

So why settle on an ED med? Especially when there’s one out there that does it all. Hello Cake ED Meds checked all the boxes for me. They start working in as little as 15 minutes, they last for up to 36 hours, and they make sex fun again. They make me feel confident in bed in a way that I haven’t in years. And that feels like the opposite of settling.
