1. Aphids

6. Fungus gnats

Most often found in soil and potting mix, these are delicate-looking flies that resemble mosquitoes. They are more of an annoyance than a danger to your plants, but can damage roots and stunt growth.

7. Beetles

You know this one! Generally with a hard wing case and a line down the middle, there’s a large variety of beetles so they can be hard to pin down. They often like to feed on leaves and stems and leave visible holes.

8. Mealybugs

Segmented and usually covered in wax, these are especially a menace to perennial plants. They can reduce plant vigor, increase risk of fungal disease, slow plant growth, and cause leaves to drop.

9. Scale

These pests are the bane of many indoor plants’ existence, found on stems and leaves with a flat body. They produce honeydew that can cause mold like many other insects, and heavy infestations can cause leaves to fall and branches to die back.
