Every home cook has a dish they've never quite nailed, and mine was pizza - although it was never from lack of trying. I’ve proofed dough, sourced quality mozzarella, and always ended up with a kind of bready, flat thing rather than the blistered, charred crust I actually wanted. But then I realized that the problem was my oven, not my dough recipe.

Most home ovens top out around 500 degrees, and pizza doesn't really start behaving until you're well past that. I didn't want to install a wood-fired oven in my backyard, so I found the next best option: GreenPan's indoor and outdoor pizza oven, which runs from 350 degrees all the way up to 850.

The at-home pizza oven that sounds too good to be true

Setting it up was easier than I expected. The oven ships with everything included, a 13-inch pizza stone, a matching pizza peel, and a water-resistant cover for storage. Compact enough for a countertop or patio dining table, it had me extremely curious to try it out for the first time.

I plugged it in, gave it 15 minutes to heat up while I stretched out my dough, and slid my pizza in half-expecting to be disappointed with the result. I was so wrong. That pizza was one of the freshest I’ve ever tasted, and it was cooked perfectly! Finally, I made at-home pizza that was as good as takeout.

A pizza in 90 seconds?!

This is the feature of GreenPan’s pizza oven that blows my mind. Once the oven is fully preheated, a thin-crust pizza comes out in under two minutes. Blistered, charred perfection in less than two minutes!

What makes that possible? The pizza stone rotates on its own, so I never have to manually turn a pie mid-cook. Boost Mode lets me send extra heat to the top element for browner cheese, the bottom element for a crisper crust, or both at once when I want the full effect.

A pizza oven for every season

The indoor-outdoor nature of this oven makes it incredibly flexible for all seasons. In summer, it’s ideal for backyard parties. Once it's too cold or too dark to eat outside, it sits on the kitchen counter instead, with no difference in performance either way. Unlike a grill, which gets forgotten once the weather turns, this pizza oven is ready to use all year round. It even comes with a water-resistant cover to protect from the elements.

Pizza is just the beginning

At 850 degrees, this oven cooks a lot more than just pizza. I've seared steaks, roasted vegetables until the edges became caramelized and sweet, and baked a tray of cookies faster than my regular oven could preheat. Once I stopped treating GreenPan’s pizza oven as a single-purpose appliance, it earned a permanent spot on the counter.

Thoughtful design details

Once I started using GreenPan’s pizza oven regularly, a few design details stood out to me.

The automatic rack advance means I never have to reach into an 850-degree oven to retrieve my food, while a raised back wall keeps the pizza from sliding to the rear of the stone. But best of all? The pizza peel made me feel like a legit chef. I might even ask for a chef’s hat for my next birthday to complete the picture.

I'm not ready to stop eating outside just because the weather is turning, and now I don't have to choose. This oven goes wherever me and my guests do. If your own pizza night has been outsourced to takeout, or you want to master at-home pizza in a way that’s simply not feasible with a regular oven, this is the fix. Want to swap dough recipes?
